Notes / Moments No. 1

Notes / Moments is a new weekend ritual. It will be a little bouquet of things that happened in the past week that are too good not to share.

PODCAST | First, I just wanted to say thank you. I’m blown away by your response to the WELL / AWARE SHOW! You guys are amazing. Thank you so much for your feedback, and please keep it coming.

WELL / AWARE ELSEWHERE | Over on UPPERLYNE, I have a column called Living: WELL / AWARE, where I write about all things wellness and conscious consumption. This week, we’re talking spring transitions. Temperatures are still warming up on the east coast, why not get a little more milage out of your sweaters — the springy sweater look is just excellent because you can leave the coat at home. When it finally gets warm enough to put them in storage, sweater expert and founder of Tempest + Bentley, Marissa Goodman Thieriot shows us how to properly care for and store them so they last forever. (Don’t make the same mistake I did and hang your sweater to dry…)

NEW OBSESSION | Body image and negative self talk is something Alex and I discussed in the podcast. In the same vein, through a new friend of a friend, I’ve discovered WANT — a project by Katie Horowitch, who, in addition to working on this incredible venture also contributes to one of my favorite wellness sites, The Chalkboard Mag. Obsessed.

FOOD | Being diligent about taking probiotics gets a lot more palpable when CAP Beauty introduces you The Beauty Chef, an Australian company that makes small batches of supplements designed to address your insides and enhance your outer beauty, especially the skin. I can say that the Glow tastes excellent even when just mixed with water, but to be completely honest I haven’t been diligent enough to fully report back on results. Bad Lindsay. Stay tuned!

BEAUTY | WHITEROOM Brooklyn (photograph above) is my new favorite hair salon. Located in Williamsburg, they’ve fully embraced the minimalist aesthetic and ethos with the slogan, “less is plenty.” A gorgeous boutique is lovely, but I’ve been hesitant about trying a new stylist and was afraid the service wouldn’t match. I’m happy to report that stylist Jennipher van Bogart made me feel right at home. She’s another example of living WELL / AWARE, we talked all about raw denim, Iyengar yoga and locally sourced jewelry. I highly recommend her for a cut if you’re New York based and looking for a new stylist.

DEMOCRACY OF WELLNESS | The ClassPass conundrum is coming to a head. The Times did a pretty great job capturing all of the feelings. In theory it’s a fantastic idea and I’m grateful for the exposure to new studios I wouldn’t otherwise have experienced. But personally, I’d much rather pay full price for the convenience of being able to get into a class. How do you feel about it?

RANDOM | Google Maps now spontaneously transforms into a Pac Man game. It’s a thing.
